Tom the Cat had always held Jesus in high esteem. As two beings sent by the Great Spirit, Tom saw Jesus not just as a teacher or savior, but as a brother—a kindred spirit. Tom frequently lamented how misunderstood Jesus was by many, but his admiration and love for Jesus never wavered.

Upon arriving in Jerusalem, Tom became fast friends with a bright and beautiful young woman named Mary Magdalene. It was Mary who first introduced Tom to Jesus, recognizing something special in the humble, mysterious cat. While Mary was deeply in love with Jesus, her affection was of the purest, most selfless kind—a reflection of her spiritual devotion.

Tom the Cat introduced himself as Thomas, and that was the name Mary used when she introduced him to Jesus. In their shared purpose to uplift humanity, Jesus and Tom the Cat found an unspoken understanding. Their mission to help others was one and the same.

There were many miracles that Jesus performed, some of which were suggested by Tom the Cat. One of the most notable was the feeding of the masses. Jesus, ever the compassionate figure, had the intention of simply multiplying loaves of bread to feed the hungry crowd. But Tom, ever the mischievous cat, insisted that the fish be multiplied as well. Together, they created a feast, a beautiful manifestation of their cooperation and the divine bounty that flowed through them.

There’s much more to their story, but Tom made me promise to keep the rest a secret—for now.

One of the most poignant moments that Tom shared with me was after Jesus’s crucifixion. Mary Magdalene was heartbroken, overwhelmed by grief to the point that she considered taking her own life. She confided in Tom, asking if she should end it all.

In a moment of gentle compassion, Tom hopped into her lap, the sweet scent of fresh sugar cookies surrounding him, and whispered softly into her ear. “Please, don’t doubt me, my dear. One day, you will be reunited with your beloved Jesus. On behalf of the Great Spirit, I promise you this: any bond created by true love cannot be broken by death. In the blink of an eye, you will once again be in the arms of your beloved.”

As Tom’s words seeped into her soul, Mary Magdalene felt a deep sense of peace wash over her. The Great Spirit filled her heart with a quiet contentment, and she leaned back, falling into a peaceful, restorative sleep. Her grief began to dissipate, replaced by a newfound sense of hope.

Tom, ever the wanderer, quietly slipped away, his mission in that moment complete. His next adventure awaited him, but his love for Jesus and Mary—and for all of us—remained eternal.

Tom and Jesus’s collaboration was a testament to the strength of their shared vision. They sought to uplift humanity by embodying the virtues of kindness and selflessness. Their story is a reminder of the profound impact that unity and faith can have on the world.
